About the Initiative

An independent project by two Teach For India Fellows.

Pocket to Possibility is a community-rooted initiative in Kolkata that puts parents, especially mothers, at the centre of financial learning. Families learn together, save together, and plan together for their children's future.

Why Parent-Led Financial Learning Matters

Parents shape the first, and the longest, financial lesson at home.

Household decision-makers

Parents already manage every rupee at home. Small skills unlock steadier decisions for the whole family.

Women as financial anchors

In most households, mothers hold the family's money. When she learns, the family learns and grows with her.

Long-term family stability

Consistent monthly habits, practised over years, become the quiet foundation of a child's future.

Skills and Habits We Build

Four focus areas. One shared journey.

Budgeting

Understand income, manage expenses, and separate needs from wants.

Child Savings Account

Learn about joint accounts and start saving for your child's future.

Monthly Habits

Build sustainable saving habits. Consistency over amount.

Community Circle

Learn with other parents, share ideas, and support one another.

Parent Track

Four workshops.Practical, honest, parent-led.

Household budgeting, child savings accounts, small monthly savings habits, and planning for your child's future. Designed for parents, welcoming for mothers.

Community Circles

A space where parents learn together.

Community Circles are simple, warm spaces where parents share experiences, discuss financial challenges, exchange practical ideas, learn from one another, and support one another in building stronger financial habits.
